Swiss ADAS Forum 2026: Carglass and Bosch Set New Standards in Mobile ADAS Recalibration
Posted by: Mario Borri
At the second ADAS Forum, Carglass and Bosch demonstrated how mobile recalibration will transform the industry. The focus: efficiency, precision, and risk reduction for fleet operators, leasing companies, and insurance providers.
Alexander Bleuel, Managing Director of Carglass Switzerland, welcomes ADAS Forum participants in Spreitenbach.
For the second time since 2023, Carglass and Bosch hosted the ADAS Forum—this time at the Hilton Garden Inn in Spreitenbach (ZH). Around 25 guests from the fields of fleet management, leasing, and insurance (FLI) accepted the invitation to learn about the current state of calibration for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). For them, it is no longer just about windshield repairs, but about efficient, scalable processes in claims management.
Kick-off: Strategic Overview by Carglass
The event was opened by Alexander Bleuel, Managing Director of Carglass Switzerland. He welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of ADAS recalibration for both the automotive industry and Carglass.
With the increasing prevalence of driver assistance systems, recalibration following a windshield replacement is becoming an indispensable step in the process. Even the smallest deviations can have safety-related consequences. For FLI customers, this means that every claim is not just a repair job, but a complex, quality-critical process that must be carried out reliably, standardized, and documented.
At the same time, Bleuel highlighted a key driver of this development: the demand is increasingly coming from the customers themselves. More and more often, end customers no longer want to drive to a Carglass service center but expect the entire service to be performed directly at their location—whether at home or at work.
Alexander Bleuel highlighted how Carglass recognized this trend early on and systematically built up its capabilities—from initial calibrations starting in 2014 to the widespread deployment of modern systems. A particular focus is on static ADAS recalibration in mobile operations, a technology developed in collaboration with Bosch.
The Belron Group, to which Carglass Switzerland belongs, had already defined the requirements for a mobile, OEM-compliant solution two years ago and found a partner in Bosch that was able to implement these technologically in a short time.
With the nationwide launch in Switzerland, Carglass Switzerland is now taking a pioneering role among all European subsidiaries.
This step sets new standards in efficiency and service quality—with clear benefits for FLI customers: reduced downtime, higher vehicle availability, more efficient processes, and an overall improved customer experience.
Bosch Perspective: The Significance and Development of Driver Assistance Systems
Sandro Francescutto, Head of Garage Equipment at Bosch Switzerland, then took the floor. He explained Bosch’s role in the development of modern ADAS technologies and highlighted the requirements these systems place on precise recalibration.
It became clear: ADAS has long been a central component of modern vehicles—and the demands on workshop processes are correspondingly high. In recent years, Bosch has worked intensively on solutions that enable reliable and reproducible calibration—even outside the traditional workshop environment
Technology and Process: How Calibration Works
Thomas Raymann, Service Manager for Garage Equipment at Bosch Switzerland, provided the technical deep dive. He explained the specific requirements for calibration and guided the audience step by step through the recalibration process.
The focus was on the DAS 5000 mobile calibration system, which was developed specifically for use outside the workshop. It accounts for typical challenges such as uneven floors or changing lighting conditions while still enabling precise work in accordance with manufacturer specifications. The process is clearly structured: After the display and sensors are precisely positioned, software guides users through the entire procedure—from preparation to the final triggering and documentation of the calibration.
A key element is the e-paper display, which flexibly displays digital target patterns, enabling maximum accuracy even in limited spaces.
Live Demonstration: Mobile Calibration in Action
Following the theoretical session, it was time for a practical demonstration: The two Carglass calibration specialists, Marten Kabara and Thanushan Vijayarajah, demonstrated live on-site how mobile calibration is performed on a vehicle with a newly installed windshield.
Guests were able to follow the entire process in real time—from setting up the system to the successful completion of the recalibration. This made it clear how the combination of a standardized workflow, digital support, and specially developed workshop-grade hardware ensures quality even in mobile applications.
Strategic added value for FLI customers
Mobile calibration is a direct response to the needs of fleet operators, leasing companies, and insurance providers.
Vehicles no longer necessarily have to be taken to a workshop—calibration and windshield replacement are performed directly on-site.
This reduces downtime, increases vehicle availability, and simplifies management in the event of a claim. At the same time, processes can be better coordinated, which is particularly crucial for large fleets.
Furthermore, FLI customers benefit from clear added value in the customer experience: greater customer mobility and more “choice” for end customers, a wider range of service options, and higher overall customer satisfaction—which is reflected, among other things, in a rising Net Promoter Score (NPS).
Alexander Bleuel summed it up: “Carglass combines its dense service network and mobile fleet with Bosch’s technological expertise. At the same time, we have made targeted investments in equipment and training—a prerequisite for establishing a scalable and future-proof model.” As part of this effort, all technicians completed hundreds of training hours. Carglass has also invested in the mobile service vehicles, and a large portion of the fleet now consists of fully electric Ford eCustoms.
Another positive effect for FLI partners: Thanks to the high level of flexibility, drivers are more likely to keep their appointments and thus less likely to switch to “non-partners.”
Last but not least, the new Carglass-Bosch solution helps minimize the risks of non-recalibration or improper recalibration through manufacturer-compliant recalibration, allowing insurers and fleet operators to “sleep easier.”
Conclusion: Networking and Exchange
After the technical session, there was ample time for personal interaction. During the standing reception, guests took the opportunity to network, share experiences, and delve deeper into the topics discussed. Finally, they were also able to tour the new Carglass Service Center in Spreitenbach—just a few steps away from the event venue.
